Laura Tattersley – SLE
I attended York St John University and achieved a BA Hons degree in History. I then followed this with a PGCE at the university to gain my teaching qualification. I am now in my seventh year of teaching in a joint EYFS and KS1 class at an Ofsted and SIAMs rated ‘Outstanding’ North Yorkshire school.
I work closely with both Key Stage Two teachers, where we share responsibly as ‘Curriculum and Pedagogy’ leaders. We are always looking to keep our teaching and curriculum ‘fresh’ and up to date to ensure the quality of teaching across the curriculum is kept high.

Examples of outreach work undertaken and impact
As a trained Forest School Practitioner I plan and undertake Forest Schools on a weekly basis. These sessions have been opened up to other local teachers and in some cases their classes too. I am keen to support other staff and schools in Forest Schools due to the benefits it can have on children in all areas of the curriculum, both on a school site and in local woodlands. I feel sharing practice is one of the most beneficial elements we can do in the teaching profession to ensure the best for our teaching, learning and overall general practice.
I have organised and lead EYFS cluster meetings for local schools. These have a focus for each meeting, but also a time to share our knowledge and other elements we consider would be beneficial to share to help all teaching, planning and practice.
I have recently finished a Masters in Early Education with York St John University. My three assignments covered elements including; SEN with focus on LAC children, Forest Schools and Writing. Each of the three assignments impacted on my own practice and classroom planning, across my school and sharing this knowledge at local cluster meetings. Furthermore, I feel doing the Masters I have made contact with people from other schools, and counties, which has resulted in a wealth of knowledge for my practice, my school and myself.
