We can assist with bespoke programmes to meet specific needs; this can include a range of strategies and delivery styles, from one off Professional Development sessions to a series of interventions over a longer period of time.

Governance Support

This programme has been developed by West Heslerton primary school, a school that was judged to have “outstanding”governance at their last inspection. The programme aims to support governing bodies by offering practical ways of working to develop governance.

Participating schools can select from a range of opportunities to meet the needs of their individual schools, the programme is made up of a series of options, allowing schools to access elements that most suit their requirements.

Emotional Health and Wellbeing  

Venue: Ruswarp Primary School

 

  • Tuesday 3rd January 2017 - Behaviour Difficulties and Disorders - 9am to 12pm
  • Tuesday 14 March 2017 - Attentional Difficulties and Disorders - 4pm to 5.30pm
  • Tuesday 4th July 2017 - Anxiety, Worries and Fears - 4pm to 5.30pm

Trainer:

Nick Connell is a qualified mental health nurse, play therapist and social worker who has worked in community hospital and school settings with adults in acute mental health, assertive outreach and crisis teams. Also as a children and families and therapeutic social worker (looked after children) as well as a clinician and primary mental health worker in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).

Venue:  Glaisdale Primary School 

Date: Wednesday 1st February 2017 

Time: 1.15pm -3.15pm 

 

Cost: Eva Members £40  - non-members £50

 

Aimed at: KS1 and KS2 class teachers and English subject leaders wanting to promote high standards of language and literacy by equipping pupils with a strong command of the spoken and written word

 

Focus:  developing children’s repertoire and confidence as writers by stimulating an interest in words and sentences and supporting all aspects of language development and progression- grammar, punctuation, vocabulary

 

How outcomes for children will be improved:

-  secure children’s fluidity with transcription

- provide strategies for children to vary their the effect of their writing and its impact on readers 

- improve children’s understanding of basic grammatical terminology and patterns 

- promote cross curricula application of high writing standards

* Progression grids for sentences, punctuation, terminology and language across the primary phrase

* Bank of classroom display resources

Stop-Motion Animation Training

Date: 3rd January 2017  9:00-3:30pm
Venue: West Heslerton Primary School

Stop-motion animation Training provided by Film Education and NYCC to help improve engagement in writing and reading, particularly for boys.

 

The day will provide an introduction to stop-motion animation using iPads, although the principles are applicable to other tablets and to other technologies - such as webcams or video cameras. We will explore engaging and realistic ways to work with a class to bring stories to life. There will be an emphasis on links to literacy, as well as on creativity and fun.

 

All iPads/equipment will be provided for use on the training day.

Maths specialists are available to attend your staff meeting or training event to share subject knowledge and current updates. This is available to all primary schools within the Esk Valley, Scarborough, Pickering and Malton areas.
